How to Plant and Take Care of Bare Root Shrubs
PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS
Plant all products as soon as possible after receiving them. The roots of bare root Shrubs should be soaked in water for 12 - 24 hours beforeplanting. All plants need to be planted in the garden in well worked-up soil. Note: The leaves on your plants may still be green, they might be brown, or they might have dropped off. Regardless of how they look they the root systems are still alive and will flourish if you handle them properly.
Now Follow the Directions Below
This is easy. Your shrub won't feel a thing, it's asleep! It was dug before it broke
1. When the package arrives leave it sealed until you are ready to plant. If you can't plant it the day it arrives, just put it in the refrigerator. It can stay there for several days if necessary.
2. Before planting day, open the package, remove the shrub, and soak its roots in water for 12 - 24 hours.
3. In the meantime, dig a hole for each shrub big enough to spread the roots and additional space for the tender new roots to grow.
4. Plant your shrub at the same depth it was growing in its original home. If you look closely you should be able to see the difference between the bark that was exposed and where it was buried. That's the approximate spot that you want to be even with the surface of the soil.
5. Put soil into the hole and pack lightly until it is level with the surrounding ground level.
6. Mulch your new shrubs with up to 2 inches of mulch.
7. Water thoroughly.
If it rains less than 1 inch per week, soak the soil around your shrubs to a depth of six inches once every week. This is the time when your young shrubs need extra moisture. Once they become established, they won't need as much water or attention.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you reserve multiple units, each unit is packaged and sent separately. They may arrive on different days depending upon the location of the workshop that packaged them.
