Mexican Evening Primrose

Oenothera berlandieri ‘Siskiyou’

 

This tough American native plant tolerates poor soil and drought.  It is perfect for the front of the border and can also be used as a ground cover.  It spreads by seeds or underground rhizomes.  The fragrant blooms are cup-shaped, 2 inches across, and pale pink with a satiny sheen.
