With spikes that may reach 5 to 6 feet tall, the plants are a stately addition to the perennial garden and are often used to mask unsightly areas. Plant them against a fence, a garage or shed wall to protect spikes from winds that blow them over. A variety of singles in radiant pinks, reds and maroons—perfect to attract hummingbirds and butterflies.
