Gold Yarrow

 Achillea filipendulina

This variety of Yarrow, the Gold Yarrow, is valued for dried flower arrangements more so than most Yarrow varieties.  If kept out of direct sunlight after cutting, stems will keep their bright yellow color for years.  Flower heads may reach 4” across gracing the tops of 4’ stems.  This sun-loving, water-conserving perennial with green, fern-like foliage will add instant height, color and interest to your ornamental garden without adding much work to your gardening days.

This plant is very popular planted  in clumps or as the edge of a border.  Plant tulips or daffodils between these evergreen plants.  'Moonbeam' Coreopsis, Monarda, and 'Autumn Joy' Sedum combine nicely with Lilyturf.                                                            CR

Lilyturf

 Liriope muscari 'Variegata'

Liriope, commonly known as Lilyturf, is an excellent ground cover perennial with arching leaf blades and lavender or white flower spikes. As an evergreen perennial, Lilyturf provides interest in the garden yearlong.   Green around the calendar, flowers in the summer and bluish berries in the fall.  Gardeners use the plants as borders, ground cover or accent plants between rocks and steppingstones or garden paths.  This versatile plant does well in the shade or full sun and is resistant to drought.
