Iceplant

 Delosperma cooperi

More than just a ground cover, ice plants have become a favorite for container gardeners. Use as under-planting for Roses or combine with ferns and Hostas for an interesting container arrangement.  Easily recognizable as the succulent groundcover with bright silver-green, fleshy needle-like leaves alongside country roads or highways in hot climates.  Fuschia colored Daisyesque flowers appear from late June through late summer. Iceplants do best in full sun and dry, sandy soil so plant in those difficult areas where other perennials do poorly.
