Dicentra spectabilis

The name perfectly describes the beautiful hart-shaped flowers with a little drop of blood dangling from the tip of the heart. This old-fashioned plant does well in well drained soil in part to full shade.  The 28 inch clumps of foliage go dormant after blooming so they work well combined with hosta to fill in after the bleeding hearts fade away.

Red Crane's Bill

Geranium sanguineum

This trouble free plant is a goood groundcover and border plant. It is 18-20 inches tall and has magenta blooms from summer to fall.  The deeply cut foliage forms 12-15 inch mounds that turn blood red in the fall.
