Purple Salvia

 Salvia lyrata 'Purple Knockout'

 

This is an ornamental form of Salvia which is often called sage.  They have rabbit deterring aromatic foliage.  This variety has unusual, very decorative, wide foliage with bronze, purple, and red tones.  The flowers are blue and purple.  These vigorous growers make a great addition to the garden.

Sweet William

 Dianthus deltoides 'Brilliant'

 

Sweet Williams is also called hardy pinks and  dianthus.  Dianthus is derived from the Greek word for divine flower, which it is.  This variety works well at the front of the border with dark green grass-like foliage and bright crimson flowers.
