Redbud
Cercis canadensis
This beautiful ornamental tree is covered with long-lasting small pinkish-purple flowers in early spring. In summer its dark green leaves cover a graceful crown. The leaves turn yellow in the fall and interesting brown seed pods dangle from the branches most of the winter. It prefers some protection from sun and wind in dry areas.
