Kousa Dogwood
Cornus kousa
Also known as the Japanese Dogwood, the long flowering Kousa Dogwood produces white, star-shaped flowers in June after other Dogwoods have flowered. If planted next to another Kousa Dogwood, it will produce red berry-like fruit excellent for birds to feed on throughout the winter. It is more disease resistant and tolerates drought better than the more popular White Dogwood. Delightful in the fall when its dark green foliage turns reddish-purple.
